Where an identity contains claims values that are supplied by the user, it is generally important to have some verification of the claims values. For example, when applying for a loan or state benefit, it would be important to check that the name, address and date of birth details are correlated. (Claims values supplied by third parties can often be assumed to have been verified.)
An identity that has some or all claims verified is known as a Verified Cloud Identity (VCiD); such an identity may be used to satisfy high assurance requirements for identities.
